About Jr Ranger Badges
Jr Ranger Badges helps families discover US National Parks near them — with a special focus on the Junior Ranger program, where kids can earn official badges by completing activity booklets and learning about nature, history, and conservation.
Our mission
The Junior Ranger program is one of the best-kept secrets in American family travel. Over 400 National Park units offer some version of it, but it can be hard to find out which parks participate, what the age ranges are, or whether you can download a booklet ahead of time.
Jr Ranger Badges solves this by building an open, community-maintained database of Junior Ranger program details. We verify information by hand and welcome corrections from visitors who have first-hand experience.
How it works
- Enter your location (or use GPS) to see nearby park units on the map.
- Parks with a confirmed Junior Ranger program show a green star pin. Parks that might have a program (but haven't been verified yet) show an amber pin.
- Click any pin to see park details and Junior Ranger information.
- Spotted something out of date? Hit “Suggest a correction” — our volunteer reviewers will look into it.
Support the project
Jr Ranger Badges is a free, independent project run by volunteers. If it has been useful to your family, please consider a small donation to help keep it running.
